Beyoncé paid tribute to Shawty Lo while stopping in Atlanta for her Formation World Tour on Monday. There was mix between Bey’s “Diva” and Shawty Lo’s “Dey Know,” as she and her dancers moved to the beat. At the end of the clip (via BeyLite) she blows a kiss, lifting her hand up toward the sky. The rapper sadly passed away last Weds. (Sept. 21), when he crashed his 2016 Audi on Interstate I-285 in Atlanta. Watch Queen Bey’s tribute inside.
The Game pays tribute to Prince with his new song, “Rest In Purple.” Along with the track, he posted a message noting how much of an inspiration the iconic singer was to him growing up, and also recalled watching Purple Rain as a child and actually meeting Prince at Universal Music in 2006:
“Prince was such a huge inspiration to my life from a child watching #PurpleRain til the time I met him at Universal Music in 2006,” he explained. “I was a fan then & I am a fan now! His death was untimely & tragic… I’m sure the world is saddened as I was when I woke up to the news today…. Long story short, @bongobytheway hit me & told me stop by the studio & record a small tribute to him & his legacy & once I heard the beat, I hit @LorineChia to do the hook….. A new tribute fragrance to Aaliyah, Aaliyah by Xyrena, has been developed in close collaboration with the late singer’s mother and brother Diane and Rashad Haughton.
“It has been wonderful working with Xyrena to create an incredible fragrance that embodies the beauty, mystery, and creativity that my sister infused into every aspect of her life,” said Rashad.

I think it’s a responsibility, it’s a duty, and it should only feel natural. Whether that is through your music, whether that’s through contributions, in any space that you can. I do think that that it’s kind of everyone’s responsibility as people.
Kevin Durant delivered an emotional speech while accepting the first MVP award of his career. He thanked all of his teammates individually, noting the positive impact they’ve each had on him.

Trina hit the Manhattan Center stage at the 2013 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards in New York City last night, to honor fellow rapper Nicki Minaj. Rockin’ a red dress, sparkly stilettos and a blonde wig, the Diamond Princess performed Nicki’s “Moment 4 Life.”
Additionally, Nicki was awarded Songwriter of the Year, along with Benny Blanco; and “Starships” earned the honor of Song of the Year. Birdman and Slim (Cash Money Records co-founders) were named BMI icons; while Hit-Boy took home Producer of the Year and Machine Gun Kelly won the BMI Social Star Award.
Clark Atlanta University held a concert for their 25th Annual Homecoming earlier this week, and Monica Brown stopped through to show some love with a performance.
Monica was cute in an orange leather vest, denim jeans, and brown boots. She brought the house down with her performance, and also paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston with a rendition of “You Give Good Love,” as the crowd cheered her on.
