Raven-Symoné is parting ways with The View to reprise her role of Raven Baxter on a That’s So Raven spin-off. She will also serve as executive produce for the show.
Raven is partnering with the Disney Channel to develop the family sitcom, which will be a continuation of the story of her That’s So Raven character for a new generation of audiences.
Following comments that Raven-Symone made in regards to an altercation between a black female South Carolina student and a white police officer, a petition was started to have her removed from The View.
“African Americans and black people around the diaspora need a voice representative of their views and not a voice representative of what white people want us to say,” read the petition. “We need strong black rolemodels in prominent positions on television an Raven Symone cannot provide that. That is why I ask that we petition to remove her from The View.”
Gabrielle Union paid a visit to The View on Monday, where she showed off her huge diamond engagement ring, dished on BET’s new scripted Drama, Being Mary Jane, and also spoke on being raped at gunpoint when she was 19.
When discussing how she overcame the horrific experience, she stated that she hated feeling like a victim. “I got sick of people letting me off the hook. Being a victim is so comfortable,” she said. “It makes you lazy.”
