Kevin Gates was found guilty of battery in the 2015 incident at a Florida club, in which he kicked a woman that tugged on his shorts during his performance.
According to The Ledger, a jury of six women took less than two hours to find the rapper guilty, and the judge sentenced him to 180 days in jail – which was three times more than what prosecutors requested for the misdemeanor battery conviction.
Meek Mill has avoided jail time, but a Philadelphia judge is sentencing him to three months of house arrest, reports The Associated Press.
On Friday, Common Pleas Judge, Genece Brinkley, ordered Meek to serve 90 days on house arrest, beginning March 1, for violating the terms of his parole in a 2009 drug and gun case. He cannot work during the three-month period, and must do daily community service with groups serving adults.
Lauryn Hill has been sentenced to 3 months in federal prison and an additional 3 months in home confinement after failing to pay taxes on an estimated $1.8 million in earnings.
Prior to her appearance in the Newark, N.J. courtroom on Monday, Lauryn’s attorney stated that she’d paid more than $970,000 to satisfy the state and federal tax liabilities. While before the judge, she explained that her intentions were to pay the taxes, but was unable to do so for a period of time.
