Lil Wayne‘s jail memoir, Gone ’Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island, has gotten a release date of October 11th. It was initially announced in early 2012, with a release planned for November of that year via Grand Central Publishing – but Gone ’Til November will now be published by Plume, an imprint of the Penguin Group, the company (Plume) confirmed with NY Times.
A representative for Penguin said the book was “taken directly from Wayne’s own journal,” with no co-writer, and will “reveal the true story of what happened while he was at Rikers Island, exploring everything from his daily rituals to his interactions with other inmates to how he was able to keep himself motivated and grateful.”
News of Taraji P. Henson penning a memoir that would be released in 2016 surfaced last April – and the Empire star took to Instagram today to show off the front and back cover of the book, Around the Way Girl, and to announce that it will arrive on October 11th.
“I love to play all kinds of characters, and I was trained to do exactly that,” she wrote in a statement that appears on Simon & Schuster’s website. “But whether it’s Cookie from Empire, Queenie from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Yvette from Baby Boy, or rocket scientist Katherine Johnson from Hidden Figures, they’re characters. As for the real me, I’m just a girl who went to Hollywood with my son, $700, and a dream. There were some detours along the way, some heartache, and a whole lot of hustle. My family, friends, and fans always keep it real with me. Know that I’m going to keep it real with you.”
Fantasia is readying the release of her new album, which she revealed is titled, The Definition Of… Along with the LP’s cover (above), the songstress has released a new track, entitled, “So Blue.” On it, she finds herself down and out over a love she’s lost, but says “all good things, they must end.”
