Three Police Officers Fatally Shot In Baton Rouge, Gunman Identified + President Obama Condemns Shooting

Three law enforcement officers were killed in Baton Rouge on Sunday and three others were wounded, in an apparent attack by a former U.S. Marine. Baton Rouge Police police Montrell Jackson, 32, and Matthew Gerald, 41, were fatally shot, alongside Brad Garafola, 45, of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department.

Three officers were also injured – an East Baton Parish Sheriff’s deputy, who is in critical condition, and two have non-life threatening injuries.

Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe paid a visit to the White House for the 4th of July party, on Monday. In addition to Kendrick and Janelle performing at the event for military veterans and their families, President Obama also took a moment and had the crowd join him in singing “Happy Birthday” to his daughter, Malia, who was celebrating a 18th birthday (Happy Birthday, Malia!).

K-Dot performed a medley of his songs, that included “Swimming Pools (Drank),” “Money Trees” and “Alright,” while Janelle’s set included “Electric Lady,” “Q.U.E.E.N.” and a tribute to Prince, as she rock’d “Let’s Go Crazy.”

Orlando Police Detail Battle With Gunman Who Killed 49, Injured 53 In Orlando Nightclub Shooting

50 people were killed and 53 injured at an Orlando gay nightclub, Pulse, early Sunday morning. According to The New York Times, on Monday, the police chief offered new details about their confrontations with the gunman, while other officials said that all but one of the 49 victims had been identified.

President Obama Drinks The Water In Flint [Video]

President Obama paid a visit to Flint, Michigan on Wednesday, where he drank a glass of water to show that it is now safe following a lead contamination crisis – while addressing a crowd at a high school gymnasium.

The president blamed the crisis on a mindset that “less government is the highest good,” which says has led to disinvestment in poor communities.
