Jay Z Becomes First Rapper Nominated For The Songwriters Hall Of Fame


Jay Z has been nominated for entry to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, making him the first rapper to be up for the award.

Songwriters become eligible for induction into the prestigious organization after having a songwriting career that spans at least 20 years, and 2016 marked the twentieth anniversary of the release of Jay Z’s debut album – Reasonable Doubt – released in 1996.

Beyoncé brought her Formation World Tour to a close at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium last night, with some assistance from Jay Z, Serena Williams and Kendrick Lamar – who each rock’d the stage with her.

Serena – who made a cameo in the clip for “Sorry,” from Bey’s visual album, Lemonade — appeared alongside her for the live performance of the track. Bey’s hubby made a special appearance to join her on their hit song, “Drunk in Love” – while K. Dot’s appearance came on “Freedom.” The crowd was also treated to Beyoncé’s first performance of “6 Inch.”

Jay Z‘s Hip Hop empire is already impressive with his D’USSÉ cognac, Roc Nation management company and TIDAL music streaming service – and now the music mogul is adding an exclusive film and TV first-look deal with the Weinstein Co to his portfolio.

According to Deadline, TWC’s two-year overall deal already has a couple of projects that will be announced soon.

Report: Beyoncé And Jay Z To Host TIDAL Charity Concert In NYC


Jay Z and Beyoncé reportedly are set to host a TIDAL charity concert alongside New York’s The Robin Hood Foundation.

According to Page Six, the event will be held in NYC at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Oct. 15th, and will feature performances from Jay, Bey, Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill and Lil Wayne.
