Drake is making a return to acting. The “Take Care” MC was seen rockin’ an afro and sideburns while filming his cameo for the upcoming Anchorman: The Legend Continues, Saturday afternoon in NYC. There’s no word on what his role will be in the comedy film, slated to hit theaters December 20th. He joins fellow hip hop star, Kanye West, who was recently spotted on the movie’s Atlanta set.
Tamar Braxton and Kendrick Lamar announced the nominees for the 2013 BET Awards Tuesday morning in Los Angeles. Stephen Hill, Chris Brown, Chris Tucker (this year’s host), and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Charlie Wilson were also on hand.
Drake dominates the list with 12 nods (including Best Male Hip Hop Artist and Video of the Year); Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz trail with eight nominations apiece. A$AP Rocky has five, while Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, and Miguel all tied with four nominations each.
American Idol contestant, Candice Glover, was in for a huge surprise last night - when Drake made an appearance on the show with a message for her, after she’d sang his hit “Find Your Love” Wednesday night.
After telling Candice he was honored that she sang his song, and letting her know that she did an incredible job; he emerged from backstage surprising her and the crowd, and then gave her big hug.
During an interview on Friday (Apr 12), Drake announced that he’d be releasing two new tracks this week. He made an appearance on DJ Khaled‘s “No New Friends,” which dropped earlier yesterday, and later delivered a track of his own, titled “Girls Love Beyonce.”
On the Noah “40″ Shebib-produced track, Drake raps about wanting more than just fun and games out of his love interest. His second verse is laced with lyrics like:
Drake paid a visit to East Village Radio on Friday, where he sat down with Elliot Wilson to talk a few things, which included his upcoming music and his beef with Chris Brown.
The two were involved in a brawl at a nightclub in NYC last summer, and both have made references to one another in lyrics. When Chris’ name was brought up in the interview, Drake stated that he’d like for all media outlets listening to refrain from asking him questions about Chris:
Drake drops the accompanying visuals to his “5AM In Toronto” track that he released last month. Drake and his crew hit Beach Blast in his hometown, and find themselves in the midst of black lights, and lots of ladies playing volleyball on the indoor beach volleyball court.
“That might be like my first viral video. Doing it for the city this time around. Well every time but this time especially,” he tweeted about the clip.
Melanie Fiona recently took to YouTube to share her remix of her fellow Toronto native, Drake’s, new single “Started From the Bottom.” After getting her beat just right, the Canadian singer throws on her “Toronto” hat – repping her city – then goes in on her rendition of the track. Late last year she channeled her rap alter-ego, Felony Miona, and delivered a few bars for Vibe. Check out her remix after the jump.
Drake is back with a new single, this one titled “5AM In Toronto.” Right before the release of his 2010 debut album, Thank Me Later, the Young Money rapper released “9AM In Dallas.” Now he has a new album in the works, Nothing Was The Same, expected sometime this year.
On the track, Drake drops rhymes like; “Give these n—as the look, the verse, and even the hook – thats why every song sound like Drake featuring Drake.”
