Common and Regina Hall have reportedly been dating for over a year now, after meeting while filming Barbershop: The Next Cut in Atlanta in May 2015. A source close to the pair tells Daily Mail.com that they are madly in love and friends say they have never seen either happier.
Regina was reluctant at first, but Common convinced her to go on a date with him. “Regina wasn’t interested in dating a fellow actor. She’s always shied away from idea of being with one of her co-stars,” revealed the source. “But Common was persistent and finally won her over.”
Solange‘s infectious jam, “Cranes in the Sky,” from her No. 1 album, A Seat at the Table, gets an added opening verse from Common.
“Every once and a few years, there are certain songs that come out and have the sound of forever. “Cranes in the Sky” is that song for me,” Common told The FADER via email. “Every time I listened to it, I keep wanting to hear it again and again. I started mumbling some words to it and then decided I want to write a verse. This is an un official remix simply inspired by the love of art.”
Common‘s got himself a “Lovestar,” and he sings her praises on his new single – featuring Marsha Ambrosius and PJ.
After Marsha opens the smooth track with the hook, the Chicago MC takes over the first verse with lyrics like:
Filming for Barbershop 3 is currently underway in Atlanta, and some of the cast and crew members have shared a few behind the scenes snapshots.
There were reports of Nicki Minaj signing on with a role in the film, and the “Anaconda” rapper was snapped taking part in the pre-production table read (seen in grainy shot immediately below). Eve was spotted alongside Common (above), and it looks like her character, Terri, may be tying the knot.
Common and Selita Ebanks come together for a sexy cover for Uptown magazine’s latest issue. Inside, the Chicago-bred rapper – who recently released his 10th album Nobody’s Smiling – talks Serena Williams, his sex-symbol status and more.
Common’s single now, and enjoying his unattached life, but says he believes in marriage. He thought it would happen with Serena, but he’s taking his time now before he jumps into something else. “If I’m in it as much as I was with Serena, as much as I loved her…it takes time to heal and find that peace to be able to move on,” he says.
