Beyoncé Responds To ‘Lemonade’ Copyright Lawsuit


After dropping her Lemonade album in late April, Beyoncé was sued by an independent filmmaker, Michael Fulk, who claimed that the “Formation” singer stole his ideas to create her LP.

Beyoncé has now responded; filing documents saying the lawsuit holds no merit, due to Lemonade and Fulks’ 2014 short film Palinoia having completely different narratives.

Amid controversy surrounding the plagiarism of her speech, First Lady Michelle Obama is unbothered as joins CBS’ Late Late Show host, James Corden, for Carpool Karaoke. After jumping into the passenger seat, she asks Corden if they could listen to some music, “I rarely get to listen to music in the car,” she says.

She explains that months ago, she sat alongside her daughter, who learned to drive, and that was the only time in seven and a half years that she sat on the passenger side of a car listening to music. While they chat, you can hear Missy Elliott‘s “Get Ur Freak On” in the background, and then Mrs. Obama rocks out to Beyoncé‘s “Single Ladies” alongside the talk show host.

Beyoncé and Jay Z are this year’s highest paid celebrity couple in the world. Between the two of them, the power couple raked in a cool $107.5 million over the past year.

According to Forbes, Beyoncé pulled in $54 million (claiming the No. 34 spot on their latest Celebrity 100 list, while Jay Z nabbed the No. 36 slot with $53.5 million.

During a break from her Formation World Tour, Beyoncé, along with her husband, Jay Z, showed support to Serena Williams by coming out to her Wimbledon women’s singles championship match. Serena’s mom, Oracene Price, was also snapped in the crowd.

The Carters complemented one another’s look – Beyoncé in a lace-collared , high neck white dress and black open toe booties, while Jay Z opted for a white shirt and sneakers, paired with black jeans.

Beyoncé is speaking out in wake of this week’s police shooting’s of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. The two shootings have sparked mourning and outrage across the country.

In the message, posted on her website, the “Formation” singer encouraged fans to “take a stand and demand ‘they stop killing us.'”
