Gabrielle Union is suing BET over Being Mary Jane, saying that the network is combining seasons four and five to lower her pay and extend her contract.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress states that although the network agreed it would never produce more than 13 episodes per season, it is now trying to film two 10-episode seasons back-to-back to “cram all of the episodes into a single season in order to fraudulently extend the term of Ms. Union’s contract.”
BET has unveiled the first official trailer for its upcoming New Edition biopic, The New Edition Story.
The three-night miniseries will chronicle the group’s hardwork and dedication that led to their rapid rise to stardom, following their humble beginnings in Boston. It will also give a look at their struggles, fights and drama throughout the years – including their decision to replace Bobby Brown.
The BET Hip Hop Awards 2015 were filmed a few days ago, and aired last night on the network. Hosted by Snoop Dogg, the show featured performances from Future, Travis Scott, DeJ Loaf, Diddy, Lil Kim, T.I., Rich Homie Quan and more.
Scarface received the “I Am Hip Hop Award,” Kendrick Lamar and Big Sean took home three awards – while Drake scored two.

80s R&B group, New Edition, has an original miniseries set for BET, Deadline reports. According to the site, Real Husbands Of Hollywood’s, Jesse Collins, will executive produce the series through his Jesse Collins Entertainment banner – with New Edition members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, and their longtime manager, Brooke Payne, serving as co-producers.
“It’s been a long time coming and that time is finally here! Now that we have signed the deal, New Edition’s journey will be captured in a three-night miniseries to tell our life story through our very own eyes.,” New Edition said in a statement. “We are happy to have New Edition Enterprises collaborate with BET Networks’ Debra Lee and Stephen Hill along with Jesse Collins Entertainment. From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like The Temptations and The Jackson Five—we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here. For the fans all over the world, this one’s for you.”
Kelly Rowland and Brandy will both be hitting the television set with new shows. BET has announced that each of the ladies will be starring in separate shows on the network.

Last week, BET announced that after 14 years, their ending their countdown music video show – 106 & Park.
But, they won’t be completely MIA – according to a tweet from the network – viewers will be able to catch the show in its digital-only version:
