Rev. Run and his wife, Justine Simmons, will be starring in and producing a new family comedy that has been picked up by ABC.
Written by Jeremy Bronson (The Mindy Project), the yet to be titled comedy centers around a legendary rapper whose plans for slowing down are thwarted when his wife decides to pursue her own dreams and stardom.
Rev. Run and his family starred in the popular series Run’s House, which ran on MTV for six seasons, however, according to Deadline, the ABC project is fictional and not based on or inspired by the Simmons.
Joseph Simmons, known for his stage names Rev. Run and DJ Run, was one of the founding members of the iconic hip hop group Run-D.M.C. He is also a practicing minister.
“Woke up feeling grateful and Blessed,” he wrote along with a screenshot of the article, sharing the news with his followers on IG. “I’m just testifying and saying. Won’t He Do it!!!!!!”
