Gabby Douglas & The U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team Win Gold

Congrats are in order for Gabby Douglas and the U.S. women’s gymnastics team as they win Gold in the team finals yesterday.

The ‘Fab Five’ – Jordyn Wieber, Gabrielle Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Alexandra Raisman, Kyla Ross – dominated Russia and Romania for the USA women’s first Olympic gold medal in the event since 1996.

Here’s what Gabby Douglas had to say during their session with the press.

“Yeah, we’re just so happy and so excited and so proud of all the girls. We’ve all been working so hard in the gym and it definitely paid off. You know, starting so strong on vault, it was definitely important to have that momentum going into the other events. It was contagious. I’m so happy and so proud.”

When asked if she has Dominique Dawes on speed dial she responded:

“No, I don’t have Dominique Dawes on speed dial, but she’s definitely one of my inspirations and role models growing up. I really appreciate meeting her, and she was so nice. Everyone’s comparing me to her, and I feel honored to be compared to her.”

Way to go ladies!
