Gabby Douglas made history Thursday, becoming the first African-American to win gold in the women’s gymnastics all-around!

The 16 year-old led the competition after her first event, the vault, and remained on top for the victory. Russia’s Victoria Komova took the silver and Aliya Mustafina (also Russian) took the bronze. The win brought Gabby her second gold medal, as the women’s gymnastics team won gold in the team finals a few days ago.

Beyonce took to her website to personally congratulate Gabby on her amazing accomplishment writing;
